Federer Falls to James Blake


World No.1 Roger Federer's hopes for an Olympic Gold medal came to an end when lost to World No.7 James Blake for the first time in their nine meetings.Federer has previously defeated Blake eight times & Blake had won just one of 21 sets (2006 US Open) in the eight previous meetings.

Roger Federer who will descend his World No.1 spot to Rafael Nadal on August 18th, which he was maintaining for 4 1/2 years will begin his preparations to defend his US Open title which starts on September 25th.James Blake who hit 11 service winners & two aces, converted two of six break point opportunities for a victory in the quarterfinals of Beijing Olympics.

Blake will now meet 2004 Olympic Bronze medalist Fernando Gonzalez of Chile in the semifinals & is eying for his maiden Olympic Gold medal. Read more here................
